Blood of Jesus

The second weapon, of course, is the powerful Blood of Jesus.  Revelation 12:11 tells us that we triumph over the devil “by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony” (NIV), and 1 Peter 1:19 tells us we were bought with the precious blood of Christ (NIV).

 

A missionary to Mexico, known only as Mrs. Nuzum, described how she used the blood of Jesus for protection over and over again.  She wrote:

 

“The blood witnesses that Jesus Christ has redeemed us from the power of sin, and that we belong to Him, purchased by His blood, that the devil has no claim or jurisdiction over us.  It is a witness that we are His and that He is ours. 

 

That is why we cry continually for the blood to be upon us.  When satan tries to put any of his work on us we may say, “I have a right to be free from this, for Jesus bought me away from you!!!  You have no claim on me!!!  

 

She wrote that one morning she woke up and couldn’t stand up- she said she reeled like a drunkard.  So she prayed.  In her words:

 

I said, “this is of you, satan; I hold the blood against you, and declare on God’s Word that it does now overcome you, and that you do now flee.”  The enemy was stubborn, but I continued to believe and repeat what I said until every trace of the trouble was gone, I then did a full day’s hard work, and have had no return of the evil…

 

One day she was walking home on a very isolated road.  She saw a group of drunken men, and they saw her.  One man came for her, running very fast.  She wrote, 

 

“I saw my danger and cried out for the blood to protect me from this drunken man.  Almost immediately his attention was attracted by some little thing along the road and he seemed to forget all about me.”

 

“I do not believe we half know the gift Jesus Christ gave us when He gave us this blood.  Many precious people get sidetracked.  What is the matter?  They are not continually eating His flesh and drinking His blood.  Oh, that we might cry out for (this precious blood) and find shelter under it continually!”  (Nuzum 1996)
